The Vodacom Blue Bulls’ fullback Johan Roets will play in his 100th match for the Union when the Bulls take on the Valke at Brakpan on Friday.

thebulls.co.za writes that Roets made his debut for the Blue Bulls in 1999 and apart from his 99 Vodacom and Currie Cup matches already played in 36 Super Rugby matches.

The coach Pote Human opted for JP Joubert at scrumhalf and Pedrie Wannenburg is back at number 8 after he injured his eye-socket against the Boland.

Human said he was pleased with Powell’s performance on Saturday but he would like to give Joubert another chance.

With Wannenburg slotting in at number 8, Ruan Vermeulen moves to the reserve bench but Richard Bands injured his knee against the Cheetahs and will not be available for Friday night’s game.

Morné Steyn is back in the 22 after he served his two week suspension but there was no place for Stefan Basson or Jacques-Louis Potgieter.

Human is expecting a physical onslaught from the Valke and was particularly impresses with the way they played against the Sharks.

The team: Johan Roets; John Mametsa, JP Nel, Wayne Julies, Marius Delport; Derick Hougaard, JP Joubert; Pedrie Wannenburg, Deon Stegmann, Hottie Louw, Francois van Schouwenburg, Cliff Milton, Rayno Gerber, Derick Kuün ©, Jaco Engels. Reserves: Bandise Maku, Werner Kruger, Ruan Vermeulen, Gerhard Human, Neil Powell, Morné Steyn, Danwel Demas.

Could only have managed that playing for the bulls…

Nah but really – thats a big achievement, congratulations.

How many times do you get to touch the ball when playing fullback for the bulls in 100 games?

We could actually make that a ruggaworld competition. PA could pull out all his blue bulls tapes and do some proper analysis and we could even give away a pen or something as a prize.

I’ll even donate the pen… or at least the money to buy it from CNA.

Or we could give away a pair of methos rugby undies as a prize. Yum yum buggle gum. Stick your finger up your ….

Woopie. 100 games showering with the likes of matfield and bakkies. Crumbs that could be interesting. If your name’s Dawn or Stannic I suppose.
Dawie prefers the shorter men. Or so I’ve heard.

    redj

I dont rate him that much since THAT CC final he hasnt been the same player.

I think JVDW is a better fullback.

Jantjes is currently the best fullback in SA followed by that bloke from Griquas.

I think his name is Kirschner. Stefan Terblanche has also been very good.

    wpw

Is that meant to be best CC fulback in SA?

Surely Monty and IMO even Steyn is better than Jantjes.

    Yes in SA.

You are correct about Monty and Steyn being the best we have.

Steyn still however cost the Sharks the S14 title and he makes too many mistakes too often.

I would however not leave him out of the test side if i had the choice.

    Glad Joubert is playing.

Wish the Bulls would get rid of Marius Delport. Very overrated indeed!

This guys has been around for a while, but he still has lots to offer.

They say props only really mature in their 30′s anyway.
