Spies: I’m fitter than ever and ready for the Super 14

Springboks and Bulls loose forward Pierre Spies said that he was fitter than he had ever been and would return a better player at the start of the Bulls Super 14 campaign early next year. Spies was left out of the Springboks’ World Cup squad after suffering a pulmonary embolism in August.

While we might not see a few of the triumphant 2007 World Cup squad in action again given the change in the coaching guard and a few of the players penchant for the Pound, only two of the squad officially retired from all rugby after the event.

Soccer boots out rugby Test

No rugby Test match will be played here at Vodacom Park in 2008. Because of construction work to enlarge the stadium for the 2011 soccer World Cup, the match between South Africa and Wales will be played elsewhere.
