Die Springbok-afrigter, Peter de Villiers, wou hom nie gister in detail uitlaat oor sy besluit om Fourie du Preez bo Ricky Januarie op skrumskakel te kies nie, maar die All Blacks was glad nie verbaas oor dié ontwikkeling nie.

Pierre Spies behou sy plek as agtsteman, ondanks Joe van Niekerk se stewige vertonings daar op toer teen die All Blacks en sy kragtige vertoning van die bank teen die Poemas. Danie Rossouw is ook op die plaasvervangerbank, terwyl Frans Steyn ook laat in die wedstryd ’n troefkaart kan wees.
