The Bok coach has many options available when he has to select his team for the dead rubber test against the touring Lions. Article in Afrikaans.
JJ Harmse, Beeld [No translation on Sport24]

Suppose if he drops Adi he
will have to bring Ralepelle
in to keep the “balance”.
Bakkies may have been rested
anyway.
June 29th, 2009 at 11:39 am
Changes I would like to see…
Schalk, Bakkies, Danie and Jean out injured or banned.
Play Juan Smith at 4, bring Potgieter in to cover for Brussow from the bench, play Vermeulen at 7.
Bring in Meisiekind, give Steyn a start and bring in Mossie.
Rest Ruan and Adi. Bismarck also given a bit of a slap/rest.
1. Beast
2. Chiliboy
3. John
4. Juan
5. Victor
6. Brussow
7. Vermeulen
8. Spies
9. Fourie
10. M. Steyn
11. Habs
12. Meisiekind
13. Mossie
14. JPP
15. F. Steyn
16. Bismarck
17. Carstens
18. Bekker
19. Potgieter
20. Pienaar
21. Adi
22. Nokwe

comfortable with that.
Just think that Kankofski deserves at least a bench poZZy.
He must now start with beKKer – if I understand his reasoning
then beKKer to be replaced on bench with Vermeulen and PK with Kankofski.
proposed backline I am

Problem is you sit with no lock on the bench, Vermeulen is no lock.

Reply to Morné @ 11:47 am:
ja but Juan could move to Lock when needed.
June 29th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Kanko must get a shot now -
start with him.
Move Spies to the bench.
Or bring #46 back.
June 29th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
With backrow players like Vermeulen, Deysel, Potgieter, Mbiyozo (I thought he was awesome in the Kings game) knocking on the door… Juan, Spies, Brussouw and other will have to keep their socks up! Great depth!
Real problem though is back-up at lock! IMO Juan may just need to move back to lock again. BUT we need another Bakkies!!! Maybe a Deysel to fill that role?

I would like to give Kanko a go but IMO maybe we should stick with continuity and get hardened for the 3N!
Make min of changes for test 3.
Only bring in Mossie for Adi and Chillyboy for Bismark (to kee the Balance)

He will NEVER drop Adi!
Likely 8- 12 combination for this weekend:
8 – Spies
9 – FdP
10 – Steyn
12 – Meisiekind
with Adi @ #13 and last weekend back trio.
Frontrow will stay the same.
Locks will be Victor and Bekker
Loosies – will probably be – 6 PK – 7 – Juan
Brussow will come of the bench again – as this weekend the bench won the game for them…

He aint no baKKies- for sure…
but in this context
he is no less a lock than either Juan, beKKer or BigVic!
Vermeulen “are” from the “vogelstruisKlan” as weLL!

If PK can play he should be 4.
that is if spies cant be “rested” and PK to pack @ 8.
Not that i think he should be rested.

PK is nie ‘n flank nie, sal nooit
wees nie.
OK, dalk op ‘n swaar, nat veld.

No sweat Bryce
I just made the point that not one of the four is a Bok4, ea a replacement for baKKies!
BaRRing PK the only othe option is muLLer- and if you can remember that even before the tour started I rOOTed for muLLer to at least start the first test- and to travel as back-up – whatever in the team.

Just on another topic – how skew must a line out throw be before it is called as such?
June 29th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Reply to Bokhoring T @ 1:41 pm:
Jip. He gave us one skew throw,
there must have been six by the
Lions.
And one by Bismarck – skew to the
Lions side, but Victor took it
nonetheless.
Muller is a hard, honest lock.
But it seems Bekker has the
pedigree on his side.

Same as scrums it seems
the Law of straight throwing in scrums have not been – wiped off the books
“managing referees”
took it upon themselves simply not to apply it
the referees have become the Law !!!
Each referee his own jury, judge and executioner
