The Lions have named an interesting squad for the game against the Bulls. They’re also looking to keep Jacque Fourie here in Jozi having lost Pretoors already to the Force.

The Lions also said that they had succeeded to retain the young talent in the union. They also report that Lions coach Hans Coetzee (who coached Fourie from school days at Monnas) and jake White with whom he won a world cup medal are trying their best to convince the best outside centre in the world not to go to Clermont but stay in Jozi with the Lions.
Jake White and Eddie Jones and coach Hans Coetzee have all sat down with Manie reynecke the CEO to discuss the future of their careers at the Lions as well as their belief in their future to achieve good results in the Currie Cup and Super 14.
As a result young players like Janno Vermaak, Franco van der Merwe and Dusty Noble have extended their contracts to 2011.
Players that have already extended contacts to 2011 are Heinke van der Merwe, Louis Ludik, Willem Alberts, Cobus Grobbelaar, Earl Rose, Jannie Boshoff, Hans Van Dyk, Michael Killian, Walter Venter, Chris Jonck, Shandre Frolick and Alwyn Hollenbach among others.
Jake White expressed his satisfaction that so many young players have decided to stay on as it was wise to invest in young players and buy wisely.
DavidS note… yeah Jake and they can start with a decent set of locks, a flyhalf and an inside centre.

I’m actually quite relived they have not flashed big cash on big name arrogant expectos who think they can arrive like Ronaldo and save the Lions.

Ek kan myself net nie sien om enige span te ondersteun waarin Rose speel nie – ek verpes hom. My pet hate – die manier waarop hy elke tackle wat hy moet maak vermy etc.
Ek dink die feit dat sy persoonlike lewe heeltyd uitgebasuin word op die voorblad van die Son help ook nie.
