Four changes, including a Test debut for Cheetahs prop Wian du Preez, are the hallmark of the Springbok team that will face Italy in Udine on Saturday.
rugby365
All the changes Bok coach Peter de Villiers made were among the forwards.
Du Preez, who first toured with the Boks in 2007 without getting a cap, will play in his first Test on Saturday when he starts ahead of Tendai Mtawarira in the loosehead prop position – with Mtawarira dropping down to the bench.
At hooked Adriaan Strauss comes in for the injured Bismarck du Plessis, Andries Bekker will start ahead of Victor Matfield, who is being rested on the bench, and Danie Rossouw replaces the injured Schalk Burger at flank.
Apart from Du Preez, two other players can make their Test debuts on Saturday – with Jean Deysel (loose forward) and Francois Hougaard (scrumhalf) both named on a bench that also features recalled veteran prop BJ Botha.

Replacements: 16 Tendai Mtawarira, 17 BJ Botha, 18 Victor Matfield, 19 Jean Deysel, 20 Francois Hougaard, 21 Ruan Pienaar, 22 Wynand Olivier.

Toe, wat sê julle kenners?
November 19th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
Ag nee man – WHY Danie Rossouw at 7??
Anyway – I like to keep the team mostly the same because it gives the guys a chance to right the wrongs but maybe Kanko is a bit lucky!
PS: Matfield on the bench? WTF? Ok Italy are not the best LO team in world rugby so maybe giving him a “rest” before the Oirish is a good idea!? Just thinking out loud!
November 19th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
‘n Paar baie gelukkiges:
Kankowski
Kirchner
Hougaard – wat ondanks al die
hype rondom hom maar kakkerig
was.

Kirchner lucky? Who else would you pick? Rose or Viljoen?? IMO Kirchner did not do too much wrng v France.
November 19th, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Jip, Pakslae also lucky. Could
be his last test.
I would rather go for Deysel.

Rose or even Viljoen. What
did Kirchner do right? Guy
is a very overrated CC player.

November 19th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Kirchner, like Rose, at least looked hungry in his game against France.
Roussouw over Deysel I can understand as Deysel does not contribute that much at scrumtime whereas with this pack we can settle the scrumming nerves early and then dominate in the loose later when Deysel comes on.
Hougaard is lucky but he has pedigree – he will come through.
Ruan very lucky. Funny but not many punters would have been too fussed had Rose been selected over Ruan. Chance missed?
November 19th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
The only thing that matters is that we have a good front row. Bakkies and Bekker will be fine.
Not too kak `n pack I must say. Andries currently a more effective 2 than Bissie anyway.

What did he do WRONG to get dropped in your opinion?
Hope the guys can win and win convincingly to get the self confidence to take on the Oirish… Can’t lose to those fookers AGAIN

Stella and Jupiler are the 2 main brands.
Stella is just a plain beer, only a little better than Castle. But there are over 300 more that are a looooooottt better

kak taste?
Like the average Saffa with
his Castle?

Reply to Boertjie @ 5:52 pm:
Over here we have a similar problem – it is the marketing agencies behind the brands pushing the brand at the local pubs. They get it so cheap that they almost have no option. However if you know what you want you can pay a few cents more for a PROPER beer! Ofcourse also on tap!
November 19th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Reply to JT @ 5:50 pm:
daar is net sneeu en dus tien onder balle vriespunt, te koud.
miskien in summer.
Reply to Boertjie @ 5:52 pm:
no i think stella is laager and its pretty good, but the best stuff is the draught or on tap, its very strong, and you cnt really have more than 3 or 4 glasses otherwise you walk into the canal, as i found out.

Na, it’s just the pricing. It’s drunk like cool drink here. Go to a pub here and ask for a coke, you’ll get some sort of cola, maybe coke, maybe pepsi. It’s just a “I’m thirsty and need a drink” thing.
When they want beer then you see the glasses change, each beer in Belgium has it’s own glass.

The beer JT talks about is Erdinger Weisbeer. Murky thing. Looks like Vaaldam water as its not filtered but bloody tasty.
The rumour was its so pure and free of ‘other stuff’ that you cannot get a hangover from it.
Well I had about 10, and yes, you can get a hangover.
