Also none for Goose Step.
In fact no 15 contracted.

February 7th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
JT en Oom Boer,
Danie Rossouw is a better lock than Bekker any day of the week. Bekker is 26 already, Danie is 29/30, he will show you stormpies in the first 3 weeks what he is capable of.
Remember 2007 semi vs crusaders? Danie started, remember 2009 semi vs crusaders? Danie played a big role.
The dearth of lock quality in the cape is much worse than at the bulls.
It will be wet in September and who will be better placed in the wet sluggy fields? Danie @ 8 or 4 or Bekker @ 5?
February 7th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
I refer to September 2011, WC month, that is why they are contracted.

Danie & Bekker – two different locks completely.

Morne,
He cannot play at any other union because their contracts are in English, hehehe. Seriously though, he is where he want to be. He is getting a nice salary and is not fekking up his body as he is only playing 20-30 minutes. no-one knows if he will be good starting every game and playing 70 minutes.
THe balance at the bulls are just right with him @ reserve. Maybe he will be utilized again as blindside with the new rules, but from the press it seem that pedrie is intent on claiming the 7 jersey, which is very good as no-one is assured their place.
I quite liked what Heyneck said regarding the players and studies.
This is obviously heresay but he said that every player that plays at the union must enrol for further education, he doesn’t care what they study as long as they study something. That is a life lesson. Not all the players go on to be coaches.
I saw Piet Krause the other day working at a hardware store and was quite sad seeing that.(Nothing wrong working at a HW store but still)
He was part of a bulls team that played in a S14 semi-final(2005, maybe 2006 too). And had he been able to pay his studies while earning big bucks, he could’ve had a nice degree behind his name.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
i think smit and danie are coming perilously close to the end, 2 years is a long time at smit;s age, its good if he goes to the RWC if only as a replacement, but he still needs to be at the required level.
Bismarck should def have got a two year contract but seems there are noises he is bietjie grootkop, am glad jannie was not contracted in any case, we have better props.
as for jean de villiers, i’d prefer to see this de jong step up and claim a place, he’s got some much needed hunger about him, am hoping he, Fourie and Habana make a formidable combination.
Boks need another 4 to stick up their hand to cover Bakkies, Steven Sykes still seems the best bet, but he must step up a level this year.

Guthro, Heinke –
Come on, Guthru struggled through the whole of the CC and EOY tour he was kak, Heinke will fade away this year and show he is not an international player
Bismarck-
he will be playing in England no place for a third hooker in team and Liebenberg is 10 times better than Bismark
Alberts, Sykes – Not good enough for international rugby
Deysel, – Is not in the same league only a good CC player showed EOY tour he is not up for it.
9. FdP, Francois Hougaard, Ruan -
Through in a young guy called Conrad Hoffman, I predict that he will be one of the up and coming stars this year.
10. Morne, Ruan, Grant
Count the name in of Lionel Cronje he will become a big one, mark my words today

Heinke should have been played as a loosehead.
Guthro, overrated.
Bismarck, still our second best hooker.
Sykes, a real prospect.
Deysel, could be used much better, he would be in my plans.
Hoffman, play some rugby first before we judge him.
Grant – had his chances.
Lionel Cronje – have not seen anything special from him.

I do really think you did not watch the game yesterday, this guy got all the skills, can kick out of hand – something Morne can not do(talking about technical kicking on attack. He can run with the ball and the vision he have to read the other team was quit brilliant. He can kick the ball many a miles and with some coaching he can be a brilliant gaol kicker.

I can name alot of players I think should be in these teams but it does not mean that they will be chosen if they where back in their native country.
This is all speculation on your part and no way to prove it, we can go on and on about this all night.
Why will a player leave his native country and go and play for money if they do not believe them-self they are not good enough.
John, Victor did it cause they thought after Jake they will not be picked again.
If you go and play their for building as a player yes. But 90 % of the players their are over the hill compare to international level and they know it and make some bugs. I can give it to you not all are rated as kak, but in a club side maybe 1 or 2 are still good enough for international rugby and if you could remember correctly both midweek teams we played did not have their star players in cause they where doing international duty, so the backup players played against the weak bok midweek team.
I will be making sure to compare Lionel and Golden Roos against each other in the S14. Just to see who is kak and who have actually potential

agree partly, disagree on others.
Heinke started with a bang, but needs to have a big S14 since his rep and performances has dropped off a bit, it might be best for him to revert to LH as Morne says esp with WP Nel and maybe BJ and CJ back on the scene.
Gurthro needs to work on his scrumming, but he is a massive presence in the tight 5 and one of the unsung reasons of the Bulls 2009 campain, there are few who hit rucks as fearlessly and the oppo know it.
Bismarck, i totally disagree, he is the best hooker in the world, problem is he seems to know it.
Alberts and Sykes still have to step up, but they are looking to be the only real prospects to fill Bakkies skoene. Deysel i expect will have another good season and competes on the deck too. i’m not sure if hougaardt will be played by the bulls at scrumhalf, but imo he would take the S14 by storm, pity he did not stay at teh stormers – have not seen hoffman or cronje – the problem with the stormers is no meneers in their tight 5 so they going to be playing catch-up at the collisions again – should have signed one of CJ or BJ.
February 7th, 2010 at 10:34 pm
the other player to look out for is little Joe Pietersen, his size is against him, but unlike Brent Russel, he stands up in the tackle. He’d make a good flyhalf too, got speed, hands and kicks well off both skoens.

Reply to cab @ 10:34 pm:
Pietersen possibly the one guy that
