It has always been our intention to make RuggaWorld.com a site which gives back to rugby, and we now have another opportunity to do so but need your help.
Whether it be a place just to hang out and talk rubbish or a place where friends meet to debate issues surrounding the game, this site has always been about you, the mug punter and supporter.
In all honesty we have not given back to rugby in the way I wished we could, but it will become a focus of mine personally in months to come.
RuggaWorld has been approached by a local primary school in the Western Cape, in Durbanville, who is about to embark on a rugby tour to the Free State. The costs of such a tour as we all know do not come cheap.
And no don’t worry, we are not asking for money as this is not the type of site we are, but we are asking for our readers to contribute to possibly assist these kids who simply cannot afford to come up with the R4000.00 per child to go on tour.
The school and parents are looking to host an evening where they might auction off some items to contribute to the fund.
Amongst those items the school is hoping to get a jersey signed which they can auction off.
RuggaWorld has already made contact with the unions and apart from the Cheetahs (helpful as always) already confirming that they will take the kids on a stadium tour once in Bloem, we are hoping to get the unions of the provinces where the kids come from, and where they are going to (Stormers and Cheetahs), to sign a jersey for us so they can be auctioned off.
Knowing how things in unions work the jersey’s will have to be supplied and I have taken the initiative to ask our readers to perhaps contribute at least getting them the jersey’s which we can send off to the unions and ensure they are signed.
This will be RuggaWorld’s contribution to the school and the kids.
I do not want to make a big fuss on the site about this, so I would like to ask readers to contact me directly via email if they want to make a contribution. I would either act on their behalf or organise with the school that you can contact them directly with either a monetary contribution towards the jersey’s or perhaps even the jersey itself!!!
Of course, seeing this is an auction they are planning if you would like to make any personal contribution (items you might have), even anonymously if you so wish, I would be glad to get you in touch with the relevant person from the school.
Unfortunately we are a bit short on time as they are looking to do the auction next week Friday already with the tour from the 27th March to 1st April.
So this is where we now turn to you, our readers, in an effort to not only give something back to the game, but to our kids playing the game.
Full details of the school, tour, contact people and dates are available on request. Please email me on morne [at] ruggaworld [dot] com if you would like to help.

Yeah the school would like to auction some to raise funds for the kids who can’t afford to go (R4K per kid).
How about you get the Cheetah jersey, or we chat to Willem and he can buy it on your behalf in Bloem, and I will organise with that lovely lady from the Cheetahs Yolande to get the team sign it for us???
The the Cape cabal can organise a Stormers jersey between the lot of us and get the Stormers to sign it…
I really want to help these kids…
I was one of those in school whose parents could not afford to send him on tours – I know what it feels like.
