CJ Van der Linde might well be back in South Africa soon.
With the World Cup in 2011 looming and Peter de Villiers’ policy to look at local talent first, there has been a lot of talk lately of ex-Springbok stars who left for Europe making their way back to possibly crack a nod a the world event in New Zealand in 2011.
Players like Jean de Villiers and BJ Botha are both set for speedy returns to South African shores and it would seem from messages coming from Leinster, that CJ Van der Linde might well be another one.
Nothing has been officially released by the club, but RuggaWorld has it on good authority that Leinster is looking for a prop to start no later than the 1st July 2007 at the club to replace a current prop that is said to leave.
The criteria suggests that the prop they seek should have similar experience and abilities as the one they are losing, leading us to believe this prop might well be Van Der Linde.
The position and debates surrounding props in South African rugby has been raging for a good two years now where our current lack of depth has been discussed. The return of world class players like BJ and CJ however will go a long way to fill this void in a position where South Africa clearly lacks internationally experienced players.
The question now remains, if CJ does come back, where will he go to?

If Leinster is looking for a prop to start on 1 July 2007 then they have left it a little long to start looking

Do we need CJ… JT how has he been playing?
Never really rated him for some reason… decent off the bench, average TH scrummer, good in the loose…
