Lions have announced a dream team of coaching staff for the Currie Cup campaign… now they just need a few players…
As The Bulls came and stole Johannesburg’s hearts inside of two weeks from the supposed “home team” of Jozi, the Lions management quietely announced that they had recruited what could actually be quite a dream team of players for the Currie Cup season…
And surprisingly, given that the Bok itenerary is full and the Boks themselves not be involved (recall how Jake White fought for this in 2006!) the Lions will not be badly hit by players being on green duty so like Griquas… they may actually be quite a force this Currie Cup.
Nevertheless Lions CEO Manie Reynecke ended the media speculation by announcing that the ex All Black and Force coach, John MItchell, will join the Lions as Currie Cup head coach for this season. Joining him will be old Natal hardman Johan Ackerman as forwards coach and of course Lions Super 14 signing Carlos Spencer will take on the role of backline coach. Once the Test season ends… Dick Muir will join the side.
This is a fantastic team…. now if only the Lions can add some names to their player scedule who would be able to implement the planning talent of this collective…

Potentially good sure.
Dream team perhaps a bit over the top.
Both Johan and Carlos need to cut their teeth as coaches and their possible success at that level remains to be seen.

Boer they’re likely to win against whoever is below fifth on the log… Pumas, Boland, probably Griquas…
But with the Boks out there is a good chance they could surprise the Sharks and maybe WP.
