The Sharks have announce that coach John Plumtree has extended his contract for a further three years.

Winner of Currie Cup medals as both player and coach of the province, Plumtree has renewed his contract with the Sharks until the end of 2013.

Now into his 14th year of coaching which has included stints with Swansea, Wellington, the All Blacks and the Sharks, he coached the side to Currie Cup glory in 2008, beating the Blue Bulls in the Durban final. Securing the Currie Cup in 2008 was the Sharks’ first silverware since 1996.

“I am pleased to commit to the Sharks for the next three years as we seek to develop and grow the team for the future,” said Plumtree.

“Just as team continuity and experience is vital amongst playing personnel, the coaching management can only grow with continuity and I look forward to the next three years with the same excitement and passion that has characterised my time with the Sharks in the past – both as a player and in a coaching role.”

Plumtree is currently back in his home country and will be returning from New Zealand on June 23 after attending a coaching course with IRANZ and also observing conditioning and fitness methods in Australia.

Plum now has the time and HIS team, a team he can put together and he believes in. The team he has played with until now was Muirs team.

Well that is how I see it. To add to that I just read that Plum signed one of my old favourites Ross Skeate :-)

Strauli had better start signing some decent players as well as look at why nothing is much is coming through the academy.

Plummo also needs to start getting results otherwise he probably won’t see out the end of his contract
