The Lions showed no mercy by humbling a SWD Eagles and Border Bulldogs combination 88-0 in their warm-up match in George on Tuesday.

Less good news for the Stormers is that hooker Deon Fourie broke a bone in his hand and is ruled out for six weeks.

Fourie and Tiaan Liebenberg are the first-choice hookers in the squad and now Siyabonga Ntubeni will come into the frame as the second-choice No.2.

The Johannesburg side were near full strength and made the most of the outing as part of their preparations for the Super Rugby season.

The Lions lead 33-0 at half-time, before putting the foot on the gas in the second half, during which their opposition lost two players to the sin bin.

    11. James Kamana is also not a definite starter but may be a utility.

No this was not really a full strength Lions team

Mark Keohane must have PMS. He’s been trashing the Lions all day long. Sad bitter man with too many scores to settle.

    I never go there.

    I suppose SWD/Border was a team scratched
    together.
Even so it says a lot about the gulf
    between S15 and CC B-section.

I wonder how many spectators rocked up?
    500 maybe?

If the Lions is not good enough for Super Rugby how on earth can SWD, Border and EP be good enough? By how much would the addition of EP players have reduced the score? 20 points? 30? Still would be 58 to 0. Those trashing the Lions do so for reasons other than just supporting the Kings. I cannot help but see the JWWW contract termination at the Lions and the prospect of getting business from the Kings as playing a role in Mark’s unbalanced hatred for the Lions. He’s lost any credibility he still had today.

In contrast to guys in CT who need to keep respectful towards him I do not have to.

I think he is a poison dwarf.

He is actually not hateful… he just likes to “stir controversy” so he’ll take a diametrically controversial stand on anything provided it stirs shit and brings him more hits on his site.

Examples is his every now and then “real transformation has not taken place” tirades

Oh and remember him saying Bulls supporters were the most knowledgeable in the land…

He’ll say anything to stir a pot… so in truth he has no moral compass expressed or any other scruples or ethics to guide what he says… he just is a little (emphasized) media persona non grata who likes to rev people up by saying controversial things.

There is no maliciousness in trashing the Lions… just Mark Keohane wanting more hits on his site saying what needs to be said to elicit those hits… self serving pratt.

I watched him have a thousand things to say in 2006 about Jake White on his website and in two pressers refuse to ask Jakes single question relating to his squealing… and in the Ellis Park match I specifically asked him if he was going to ask about what he had written and he just looked at me funny and then shook his head.

Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking he actually hates the Lions or any other team… he’s out to make money.

Reply to DavidS @ 10:18 pm: I’ve always seen it like that … but when it comes to the Lions Mark has always had that edge about him, especially since the JWWW thing. How many positive Lions articles has he ever written? Try to find ‘em. When he was part of JWWW at the Lions he wrote zip … complete silence. He’s answer will be that there was nothing positive to write about. That would be a lie. Anyone wanting to see positives will be able to see the huge progress Kevin has made at the Lions. There are positives to write about but he prefers to focus on the negatives only. Simon Borchardt is the same.

This Lions hatred in certain sections of the Media comes from the days of Louis Luyt. Luyt said as much in his biographies. There are those who will never rest until the Lions disappear. Who will they target then? Bulls?
