What a kick!!! If we can only incorporate the sheer joy and pace the new zealanders bring to their game, combined with our natural flar we will be unbeatable in rugby for the next 100 Years.
Cheers

Congrats to the Lions and their suPPorters.
ChEEtahs have the skiLLs to compete, but it sEEms the nous to close tight games out, are stiLL sadly lacking.
ALL S 15 will be tight games for them, unleSS they are on the recieving end. Solid defensive eFFort though.
Havent studied the “new”rules( maybe more the NEW implementation thereof) enough to bitch about the ref.
It is a given that gOOsen is a Special one- but it sEEms injury prone – Jantjies played very weLL, not just the kicking.
ChEEtashs locks were competitive but did not have the same impact on denying MiNNie Access to the baLL at the breakdown as the way that the Lions neutralised BruSSow. Barfighter Coenie was surely missed.
The BloemBeast also played a leKker game. With two years experience he wiLL be a handfuLL. AdriAAn StrauSS was solid but not as influential as most games last year.
All in All- away game to a must win team- pity to take home only one point – especiaLLy as they were not outplayed but could not manage to kEEp the lead to the final whistle.

OO
Ref was maar super kak geweess…
Starting to think if it’s endemic to Lawrences…
He was struggling you see because he just could not figure out who to penalize seeing as he’s such a big Sharks / WP supporter and neither was on the field…
Neither side could get their backline moving at all and he was clueless at the breakdowns.
February 26th, 2012 at 10:20 am
Cheetahs look really different without Pretorious.
Its just the 1st game hopefully they’ll gel in a game or two.
That leg on the Goose is freakin’ bionic.
May be the gameplan for Cheetahs to line up the Goose at halfway everytime and give him a shot while playing cynical “win ugly” defense the entire game.
Worth a shot Mr. Drotske if your reading this ( and I assume you are).

JT
Goosen got beaten for pace by Jantjes on two linebreaks, outscored by Jantjes, cost his team a YC, and left injured after a tackle attempt on Jantjes and HM should be looking at Goosen as a Bok…
Dude seriously…
February 26th, 2012 at 11:04 pm
Reply to DavidS @ 9:03 pm:
now all of a sudden the ref was right?? seriously? oh and who made the breaks for the Cheetahs past the messiah Jantjes?
Goosen is a kid and Jantjes a “seasoned” campaigner but Goosen showed a lot of potential. add Lambie to that group we have some serious seriousoptions!
February 26th, 2012 at 11:05 pm
both had good games – not like van arsewagon
February 27th, 2012 at 1:50 am
Jantjes is 21 in only his second S15 campaign… hardly seasoned.
Jantjes did not miss Goosen in a single tackle I could see. In ONE tackle one of the Cheetah forwards ran over him but not Goosen.
February 27th, 2012 at 2:25 am
Reply to DavidS @ 1:50 am:
The difference is that Goosen is new and looked impressive.
Jantjes we’ve all seen flopped before. Just give it a few games .
February 27th, 2012 at 2:54 am
Reply to Timeo @ 2:25 am:
Jantjes has most certainly looked more impressive than not at every level…
February 27th, 2012 at 8:21 am
Reply to Timeo @ 2:25 am: I’m hearing this often here in CT: Jantjies that is not good enough; Jantjies that will soon implode; Jantjies that cannot tackle; etc; and the more I hear it the more Jantjies proves these people wrong. Man of the Match in the CC final. Man of the Match on Saturday. 9/11 kicks over. New record.
It seems like whatever the Lions get right it will never be good enough. Really pathetic how people can be so full of hate.
February 27th, 2012 at 8:23 am
If Jantjies is so poor then Rassie must have been out of his mind to have tried so damn hard to lure him with massive offers to WP.
February 27th, 2012 at 8:45 am
Reply to Kat @ 8:23 am:
Quite simple really… he’s keeping a Bok/Bath 10 (that many were touting would be first choice Bok 10 over Morne in the RWC)… on the bench…
February 27th, 2012 at 10:29 am
Jantjes played poorly in the beginning of Super 15 2011.
That is at age 20, having been selected for the Boks EOYT in 2010 just when his coach said he was too young to be selected and should be given chance to mature. Poephol Piet, ever the more wise and intelligent, however ignored the advice and ALMOST ruined Jantjes.
It is a measure of his growth in Super 15 2011 that by the end of the season he was selected as the the best ten in the final round of games of Super 15 2011 having not been able to hold his place down at the start of the season… over Morne Steyn, Quade Cooper and Dan Carter.
Jantjes had a few bad games, but he has NEVER imploded… NEVER. That is pure fantasy Timeo and you know it… you should take your little blue tinged sunglasses off occasionally.
That said I DO think that Hollenbach is a CC player and that even last year the Lions looked better with Butch at 12 than Hollenbach.
February 27th, 2012 at 11:53 am
Considering how young Jantjies is and how well he’s doing already imagine how he will play three years from now under the continued mentoring of Mitchell and Spencer. Biggest problem for the Lions will be to hold on to him (already becoming an issue as the offers flood in).
February 27th, 2012 at 12:17 pm
Jantjes is a great talent, and in two years time will be the no 1 flyhalf in the country.
One of the things I like most about him is his “soft hands” n handlingh and distribution, then he also has the boot and eye for a gap.
