Blue Bulls VC side announced

The Vodacom Cup kicks off this weekend and the Blue Bulls have announced their side to take on Griquas at Loftus.

Jono Ross will captain the Blue Bulls team for his side’s opening match of the Vodacom Cup competition against Griquas at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

The Blue Bulls, losing finalist to the Pampas in 2011, is determined to win back the Cup, coach Pine Pienaar said.

“We have a tough start to the competition, having to play Griquas, Pumas, Golden Lions and Leopards in consecutive weeks, so a good start will be very important.”

The Blue Bulls have won all three their warm-up games, but Pienaar is taking nothing for granted.

“The competition starts on Saturday, that is when those wins will count,” he said.

The team to play Griquas is: Jurgen Visser, Sampie Mastriet, Ulrich Beyers, Jean du Plessis, Clayton Blommetjies, Wesley Dunlop, Lohan Jacobs, Jono Ross (c), Jean Cook, Warwick Tecklenburg, Cornell Hess, Gerrit-Jan van Velze, Ryno Gerber, Bongi Mbonambi, Dawie Steyn.Replacements: Robbie Coetzee, Basil Short, Franco Mostert, Daniel Adongo, Rudi van Rooyen, Tony Jantjies, Courtnall Skosan.

The fixtures for 2012 are:

10 March: Griquas, Pretoria

17 March: Pumas, Nelspruit

24 March: Golden Lions, Pretoria

31 March: Leopards, Potchefstroom

13 April: Valke, Pretoria

27 April: Griffons, Welkom
