Elton Jantjes out for a month blow for Lions

The Lions have been struck another pulverizing blow ahead of their bye week as Monday’s medical revealed Jantjes will be out for a month.

Supersport reports that the injury to Elton Jantjes is worse than expected after a Monday medical showed the foot injury was worse than expected.

Additionally first choice inside center Alwyn Hollenbach is also sidelined with a hamstring injury for up to three weeks.

Luckily the coming week is a bye, but after that the Lions face some hardcore fixtures with the Stormers, Crusaders, Bulls and Cheetahs consecutively.

The Lions have already lost two props in JC Janse Van Rensburg and CJ Van Der Linde, and their first choice hooker Bandise Maku is in the same boat. Lucily CJ should be back for the Crusaders match. Still missing are Wikus Van Heerden, Michael Rhodes, Dylan Des Fountaine and Lionel Mapoe.

His boot will most certainly be lost… but if James shrugs off his ring rust he has every bit the rest of the distribution/ tactical attributes…

    The front-row is the problem…

At the beginning of the Sharks game (or in the weekend’s recap) I’m pretty much sure I heard the presenter or commentator say that Jantjes was not there for disciplinary reasons… anyone elaborate?

Bugger! Is this a re-occurring injury.

Sad to see players, young one at that get injured. Sad about Kaino too.
