CJ cited for biting

CJ van der Linde of the Lions has been cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

van der Linde is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship, when he allegedly bit Force player Toby Lynn at the back of a Ruck while the players were involved in a clean out. The incident occurred in the 10th minute of the match between the Force and Lions on 26th May at NIB Stadium in Perth.

The Referee: Garratt Williamson referred the incident to the Citing Commissioner by issuing a White Card following a complaint by Force Captain David Pocock.

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play

The Citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.

  1. Watched that part again slo-mo… the guy was getting a strong arm strangle around the nose mouth… very much doubt you could bite under that pressure… that alone should have been a citing for Lynn…

  2. There is far too many players, especially at ruck time, cleaning out players around the neck. It happens every game.

CJ should have bit a hole in his arm and he should be cited for dangerous tackle.
