The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd would like to confirm that Junior Boks flyhalf Handrè Pollard will join the Vodacom Blue Bulls in 2012.
The 18 year old Paarl Gymnasium scholar was one of the stand-out players in the Junior Boks campaign and scored 42 points during the IRB Junior World Championship 2012, including 12 points in the final, won 22-16 by South Africa.
According to the CEO of the Blue Bulls Company, Barend van Graan, Pollard has been on their radar for more than two years.
“We encouraged, through our scouting process, a possible move to the Blue Bulls after his school studies way back in 2010, when Handrè played in the Grant Khomo Week for Under Sixteen players. What impressed us then was his cool head under pressure and the maturity of his general play and decision making. His performance during the JWC confirmed that potential and we are excited to have him in our structures later this year,” Van Graan said.
More information on the Vodacom Blue Bulls junior squad will be released later in the season, Van Graan confirmed.

Great.

Wys jou net – waar daar rokie is, is daar ‘n vuurtjie…ten spyte daarvan dat WiePie se top brass dit vurig ontken & teenstaan!

Proof once more that SA has only one professional union (bulls) and one that tries (sharks). The rest still wear a foking comb in the sock

More like one still wears a comb in the sock and the other missing two front teeth and obese!

Did you wathc him play….I thought our goose was cooked when goose was injured. I thought Bambie was calm under pressure but this laaitjie is something else…
Ironically the Bulls buy all thair flyhalves from the province that cannot score tries or have any Flyhalves. I hope they dont turn him into another Steyn, you know the flyhalf who was a great running flyhalf, or a dead Sadie.
Well done Bulls, smart.

What was the ruling about signing school players from other unions announced the other day? Does that not impact on this?
After seeing Pollard in the JWC, must say, he is good, but he is no Goossen. Get Goossen to the Province pronto!

Reply to Kevin_rack @ 6:32 am: While I would’ve shared your concerns a few years back. It could be a good thing for Pollard and possibly SA rugby that he’ll be playing alongside his fellow junior stars in Serfontein, Small-Smith and next year’s representitive – Swanepoel. It will definitely help his development playing with those guys.
I however am still disappointed in WP. I know we have Swiel, but feel WP could’ve done much more to keep Pollard. I now just hope WP will manage Swiel well to bring out the best in him.
Will be interesting to see who Dawie selects to marshall his u20 side if both Swiel and Pollard are fit. Pollard will probably keep the number 10 jersey with a shift for Swiel to fullback (seeing that he played there at school).

Reply to Craven @ 8:11 am: I am hearing from a few sources that Goosen might be signing with WP in the next 2 years. Early days yes, but it could explain WP’s lack of effort in keeping Pollard here…
I however am a firm believer in developing your own talent first. As great a prospect as Goosen is, I’d like WP to back Tim Swiel and whoever else comes through the ranks over the next couple of years.

Reply to grantwp @ 9:19 am: Now where have I seen that Nick before? I was a die heard Province man almost my whole life but no more.
They remind me of my most hated team the warrapoofdas, every year is the year they will win. Then the Cape just stopped scoring tries and lacked the flair we had before.
You are indeed correct that axis was awesome, that Serfontein dominates his opposition and the scrummie was great too.
What happend to Coleman?

Reply to Kevin Rack @ 10:40 am: He has been allowed to play with SWD. But I think it is only until the end of July. He’ll back with WP for Currie Cup… I am not a fan though and reckon we need to trust Catrakilis and Swiel to lead our Currie Cup charge. Not sure how Van Aswegen’s injury is going…
WP have done some good things in signing Kolisi, Etzebeth, Kitshoff and co but I share your frustration. So many times I feel let down by the union and for so many years I’ve been let down by the team as well. But I always come back. After every unsuccessful season I tell myself I won’t invest so much in the next season, then I end up attending every home and shouting my lungs out. It can be a vicious cycle.
But back to the point, I understand WP cannot hold on to everyone, but I would like to see us do better!

WP administrators are made to look way better than they are by brilliant rugby schools (in Boland area actually) producing tons of talent. We Lions fans are told daily how poor our administrators are but imagine those lot from WP were required to manage a union with far fewer top class rugby schools feeding the system to save their arses …
I’m convinced WP have the worst management/administrators in rugby in SA by miles.

Wonder how many Currie Cups Boland won for WP? If Stellenbosch and Maties feeded Boland – as should have been the case – WP have played B-league rugby and Boland would have been the team with all the titles.

Hoekom CB wen geskiedenis snert is.

WP het natuurlik sedert diensplig tot ‘n einde gekom het bitter min bekers gewen.

Jeez you guys can moan… WP has not seen such a successful last few seasons in almost a decade…
They won the conference last year (the ultimate RSA prize) and are primed to take it again with a better success rate… and this with some major injuries…

Reply to grantwp @ 10:48 am: I keep telling ANC supporters why they keep voting for the same party that is incompetant, full of yes men, suffers from cronyism and definely does not put the best man in the job.
So I then applied that to other things in life and rugby was one of them. How can I keep supporting WP. They dont respect their supporters by under delivering and over promising and definely incompetant.
So I support the Sharks, then Cheetahs, Lions, Stormers, Kings and then the Bulls. I might be fickle but I could never ever support another team against a saffa team, even the Kings.
P.S. You are not the Barney lover are you.
