Russian team for Lions Challenge

The Golden Lions Rugby Union, on behalf of Rugby Union Russia, would like to announce the 23-man Russian Bears outfit that will face the MTN Lions at Ellis Park on Saturday. Kick-off is at 19h00 and the match will be televised live on Supersport 1.

    Much better. Still a boring game. It wasn’t the Lions fault though. The Russians is just not good enough to play a competitive match at this level.

    I thougt the Lions centres and loose trio played a pretty good game.

    Weather also played a role.

    It was raining this soft insipid tropical sifting rain all the time, so tat kept crowds away too.

    I thought Lionel Cronje had an excellent game controlling the centers. Also taking the ball at pace very flat was a lovely change to see in a South African flyhalf.

    Reply to DavidS @ 5:46 pm: Yes Lionel has always been a very promising player. If I remember corectly he was the SA u/20 player of the season a few years ago. If he can stay injury free for a change he can develop in a good, well balanced flyhalf and a real asset to the Lions. Will have to see him and the other new Lions players against decent oposition first to make any real judgement though.

    I was planning to go to Ellispark if it wasn’t for the rain, will try to go to the next game.
