Serfontein commits to Bulls

The Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd is pleased to announce that Jan Serfontein has extended his contract with the BBC and will remain a Vodacom Bulls player in the foreseeable future.

Serfontein is one of the brightest young stars in South African Rugby and indeed in world rugby, having being voted IRB Junior World Championship Player of the Year in 2012.

The 19 year old midfielder has taken to senior rugby with ease and according to the BBC’s High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg; they are delighted to secure the extension.

“We have built a very good relationship with Jan since he was a schoolboy and I am happy to see him continuing his career in Pretoria. We obviously rate his ability as a player very high, but we are also delighted to secure someone who is a wonderful team player and human being.”

Serfontein, who hails from Port Elizabeth, said it was an easy decision.

“Home is where the heart is and I am very happy in Pretoria. The Bulls rugby family is indeed a special one and their work ethic commendable, something I want to be part of for the next couple of years.”

    “Serfontein, who hails from Port Elizabeth”

    How many young, up-and-coming players in Blue Bull country actually hails from within their borders? Serious question.

    Reminds me of a t-shirt I saw once;

    “Paul Roos, a rugby legend. Grey, a colour”

    I just hope the Bulls don’t coach all the talent out of the Laaitie.

    That only happens in Cape Town…

    Ask your Stormers backline about the great tries they scored from backline moves last year like the Bulls… you know… like how Bryan Habana really flowered as a backline player in Cape Town once the Bulls had coached all the talent out of him…

    Oh wait….

    I am coincidentally watching half an hour of cricket this afternoon.

    I can’t handle the Pommie Jukskei anymore.

    Listening to Neil Johnson whisper his commentary like he’s David Attenborough watching a pride of ultra rare lesser spotted duck billed Patagonian four legged parrots is even more irritating than Pommie Mbangwa’s exaggerated English private school accent where you expect every sentence to end with “bru” and every one to start with “Ja hey” makes me wish for the days of Edwill Van Aarde, Mike De Villiers and especially Trevor Quirk…

    Anyway it ended being 30 minutes before I got tired of it… and did something exciting, taking my kids for a walk around the neighbourhood.

    Paradoxically in South Africa the latter is actually a potentially dangerous exercise which is why I accompany my children…
