Willie Le Roux

Springbok Fullback Willie le Roux will be rested for the warm-up matches Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske said.

Le Roux injured his shoulder when he fell on it during the warm-up match against the Shimlas last week, but it has been reported that it is not serious. Drotske will not risked him against the NMMU and EP Kings this coming week, he told the Volksblad.

Two of the Cheetahs big guns, flyhalf Johan Goosen and scrumhalf Shaun Venter will play against the EP Kings on Saturday.

Venter, who underwent a shoulder operation last year will get about 20 minutes against his old province and Goosen should get about 40 minutes.

Drotské said Le Roux will be rested as a precautionary measure with Hennie Daniller doing duty at fullback. The latter also recently returned to action following a wrist injury.

The Cheetahs on Saturday named a 36-man training squad for their week-long camp in Jeffreys Bay.

The squad was named after they thrashed Shimlas 66-19 at Free State University on Friday, while their second-choice side lost 21-19 to Griquas’ Vodacom Cup side.

On February 1 the Cheetahs will play against the Pumas in Parys, before they open their 2014 Super Rugby campaign against the Lions in Bloemfontein on Saturday, February 15.

Cheetahs training squad:

Trevor Nyakane, Caylib Oosthuizen, Coenie Oosthuizen, Rossouw de Klerk, Max van Dyk, Adriaan Strauss, Ryno Barnes, Hercu Liebenberg, Torsten van Jaarsveld, Lodewyk de Jager, Andries Ferreira, Hilton Lobberts, Francois Uys, Rynhardt Landman, Johannes Prinsloo, Carel Greeff, Pieter Labuschagné, Teboho Mohoje, Philip van der Walt, Jean Cook, Sarel Pretorius, Shaun Venter, Kevin Luiters, Inus Kritzinger, Elgar Watts, Johan Goosen, Riaan Smit, Francois Venter, Howard Mnisi, Johann Sadie, Piet Lindeque, Raymond Rhule, Cornal Hendricks, Rayno Benjamin, Willie le Roux, Hennie Daniller

    Correct you are Aldo.
Naka Drotske didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday….
He knows better than to dig a ditch with your Sunday shoes on.

I want Willie to be cauffered around by armored personell carrior. I think SA made some dandys with the huge wheels way back when & were “discovered” during all that Iraq IED stuff.

Then the Americans bought OMC Land Systems sent their guys here, stole all our top scientists and engineers, built their own and claimed they were ACTUALLY the guys that came up with this stuff… gotta love America…

My television is presently literally BLOCKED with MLK Day basketball… how many games doi they play???? like 200?

I have pretty much concluded that basketball is some sort of punishment that American have to endure for slavery…

A bunch of white people in a closed off arena in winter are forced to dress in vests and watch ten tall gangly black men run from one end of a short course to another for two hours and throw a soccer ball into a netball hoop 200 times…

Yeeeaaahhh mutherfuggers… now you know what pickin’ cotton was like for us…

    Even curling is more exiting.
They don’t throw the ball into the net any more -
something that at least requires some skill – they
reach up and put it in.

    lol DavidS.
That’s why I put “discovered” in asteriks :-)

I figure Afrikaaners are same as Americans really – their ancestors just took a different boat while speaking different tounge & landed in a different place. It’s cold here at Christmas – you guys were smarter in that regard :-)

College basketball is still good. You guys should watch the NCAA tournament – high drama & Cinderella teams vs the Behemouths even – steven. An SA similarity would be Messerschmitt-Willie’s rag to riches triumph over the silver spoon Zee Bulls when he scored his glorious kick & catch try last year.

NBA is a rigged joke. Like pro-wrestling.
