Sharks Director of Rugby Jake White has named his team to play the Rebels in Melbourne with Frans Steyn starting in the number 10 jersey.
Steyn’s move from centre to flyhalf sees Tim Swiel being dropped from the teams and Fred Zeilinga will provide cover at flyhalf from the replacements bench.
Steyn’s move to flyhalf opens the way for a a new centre pairing of Heimar Williams and Paul Jordaan.
Odwa Ndungane returns to the side on the wing while in the forwards Keegan Daniel and Ryan Kankowski rotate at eighthman with the latter starting this week while Jean Deysel and Bismarck du Plessis are both back after being pulled out of the team week through injury.
White has urged his players to bounce back from their loss at home to the Highlanders in a big way.
“This Rebels’ game becomes the most important game for us,”said White .
“We want to bounce back. It doesn’t matter who it is, it’s not the Rebels we’re targeting. When we lost to the Bulls, we won the next game against the Waratahs.
“This week we need to make sure that regardless of who we’re playing, we need to be better than we were last week to get a result.
“We must remember that although we beat them comfortably last year in Durban, we’re playing them in Melbourne, they are a good team playing at home
“They’ve picked up some good wins this year, they beat the Brumbies in Melbourne,” said White.
“We want to get our tour off to a good start and take momentum through the tour and in order to do that we need to get a win in the first game.”
