Toyota Cheetahs prop Trevor Nyakane will link up with the Springboks in Durban on Sunday as an additional member in the squad for the Castle Lager Incoming Series.

Nyakane played all three of his Tests for South Africa last June but was not part of the squad for the Castle Lager Rugby Championship.

“Trevor is a player who we identified last year already as someone who can play at the highest level,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

“He’s currently not the first-choice in his position for the Cheetahs and we’re thankful that they granted us this opportunity to pull Trevor into the squad.

“As the Cheetahs are on a break from Vodacom Super Rugby at the moment, we want to use this opportunity to work with Trevor, keep him up to date with our playing structures and, most importantly, spend time on his conditioning and other aspects considering the Springbok ethos.”

Meanwhile, Flip van der Merwe has been granted special permission to attend his brother’s wedding this weekend and will rejoin the Springbok squad in Nelspruit next Monday.

The above is all kinds of fucked up…

Why? He can’t even hold down a starting spot at the Cheetahs …

Better choice would have been Caylib Oosthuizen… what is certain is that Jannie and Beast aare in need of a long rest…

He was selected ahead of Caylib etc. in
    June 2013.
    Replacement in three tests.
Then became undisciplined, did not stick to
the menu, missed the flight to Argentina.

    Seems he’s been forgviven.

Yep what is indeed certain is…

Jannie/Beast/Bismark are being played to death… Coenie is not a TH and should replace Guthro who is past it… another TH should take his place… and Nyanke should be nowhere near a Bok spot…

    Not rocket science…

Ahhh the joys of AA mediocrity….destroyed some very good talent. I like this kid but he is not good enough and rightly so many white players leave to get better opportunities.

The problem is… it’s at TH the Boks are in trouble after JDP… and for seasons now we have seen that Coenie is a good LH and average TH…

Pat Cilliers has now out-scrummed the Bok front row on two occasions in recent times from TH… he’s capped… problem solved along with Adriaanse…
