De Jongh and Boshoff out of 2nd Test

saru

Juan de Jongh and Marnitz Boshoff will not be considered for selection for Saturday’s Castle Lager Incoming Series Test against Wales in Durban because of illness and injury.

De Jongh was admitted to a Durban hospital on Sunday evening with a severe chest infection. He will in all likelihood only be discharged by Wednesday and will not be ready to take on Wales this weekend.

Boshoff rolled his ankle at training in Cape Town last week. He has a grade one ankle sprain and the Springbok medical team are hopeful that he would be able to start training again late this week.

A decision on both players’ further involvement in the Castle Lager Incoming Series will only be taken at a later stage and they will remain with the squad for the time being.

  2. Pity Boschoff didn’t get a non-cap run last week… but Goosen does deserve a few more runs with Lambie not there…

  3. Going to be interesting to see what the bench backs will look like after RP and Goosen…

Hendricks had a damn good game… however I’d start with Mvovu over him and there is the need for a utility on the bench… so he’ll drop out for someone…

Hehe, I know De Jongh does not have a lot of fans on this site.
I really like him though. Should not be first choice 13 at the moment but will have him as over JJ everytime. He is probably an ork according to Bryce’s scew sizeometer but is a powerfull runner with a very good hand-off to go with that step to the one side.
