The 19-year-old wing of the Baby Boks will join officially the Free State Cheetahs in November and he will be contracted till 2017 reports HENDRIK CRONJE from the Volksblad
He will be with the Eastern Province Kings for this year’s Currie Cup series.
“When we talked about his future, he asked for the Cheetahs to negotiate,” said Mede8 Sports, the agency that represents him, in a statement.
“The Cheetahs’ game plan suits him, he wants to play Super Rugby and it was important to us that he keeps momentum after good performances in the Junior World Cup in New Zealand.”
Earlier this week, the Springbok wing Cornal Hendricks extend his contract with the Cheetahs until the end of 2015. Clayton Blommetjies, utility back player for the Blue Bulls sign on Monday with the Free State Cheetahs.
Another addition, the former Sevens Springbok and longtime stalwart of the WP, Joe Pietersen, will be joining the Cheetahs for 2015’s Super Rugby as a replacement for Johan Goosen.
The possibility is also that the Cheetahs will sign utility back of the Pumas, Coenie van Wyk. He played for the Lions Super Rugby this year and if he decides to become a Cheetah it will be add great value for the Cheetahs.
The Cheetahs lost a few back players and these editions will be great for their season next year.
Among the backs who leaves the Cheetahs are , the fullback Hennie Daniller (Zébre), Goosen (Racing Metro), center Piet Lindeque (farmer) and utility back Riaan Smit (Oyonnax).
The center Johann Sadie is not available for the Currie Cup , but will be back for the 2015’s Super Rugby for consideration. He will now be playing for the Japanese club Docomo Red Hurricanes.
