Glasgow Warriors have announce on their website that they have secured South African prop Rossouw de Klerk from Super 15 side the Cheetahs, subject to a visa and medical.
De Klerk has signed with teh Scotish outfit for two years and will join the likes of Josh Strauss at the Warriors. He will join the Warriors by the end of the month for pre-season training.
De Klerk start his career at the Blue Bulls in 2009 and went on to make 41 appearances for the union of which 14 was in the Super Rugby Tournament. In 2013 De Klerk joined the Cheetahs and made 14 appearances for them in Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup games. He also run out for the Cheetahs in seven matches this season.
Rossouw de Klerk said: “I’m delighted to have signed for the Warriors and I’m looking forward to playing in the GUINNESS PRO12 and European Rugby Champions Cup next season. “It’s always been an ambition of mine to play for a European club and I’m looking forward to going over to Scotland later this month and meeting my new teammates in Glasgow. “I’m expecting tough competition to get into the team but that is a great challenge and something which really motivates me.
“Glasgow have made excellent progress over the last couple of seasons and I’m looking forward to being a part of that.” Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: “To get a tighthead of Rossouw’s quality into the club is fantastic and he’ll add depth and competition to our front-row.
