Xerox Golden Lions head coach Johan Ackermann has named his 22-man side to take on DHL Western Province at DHL Newlands this Saturday.

In the forwards, Willie Britz and Warwick Tecklenburg move up into the starting side, joining Derick Minnie in the loose trio. Minnie will captain the team.

Meanwhile in the backline, Ackermann has opted for consistency, selecting the same group which beat the EP Kings 60-19 at Ellis Park last Saturday.

The match will kick off at 17h05.

Lions cannot match at 9/10 and 4/5 and this will lose them the match…

@DavidS: It was mentioned by Morne yesterday WP plays with about 20-30% ball against the Lions if you gonna give them the ball they will punish you, they are not the Bulls.

WP will have to play a more structure game with attacking from set pieces if they want to win the Lions.

Lions forwards have been great in Supershit and CC this year, just wonder how much Whiteley not being their will change things..

All in all a great match I am looking forward to this weekend

Minnie is far better than Whiteley. Tecklenburg and Britz are ooutstanding in terms of commitment and with Minnie coming off the bench the loose forwards are still competent.

The issue is not having a decent 9/10 or decent jumpers.

    WP has.

@DavidS: Big call on Minnie, Whiteley…Minnie getting injured so much with the way he plays…I do think the Lions side looks up to Whiteley as a great leader….

    Yes they do.

We’ll see how it plays out. the WP should shade it with better set piece play out of lineouts and kicking.

I see Doppies is now with Griquas? Wonder why he did not return to the Lions?

Doppies and Stokkies, what a centre pairing! :)

Shame… I guess he has aged… or could be looking for a Bulls/WP/Sharks contract so he gets noticed…
