SWD and Western Province on Wednesday continued to stamp their authority in the Southern Amateur Provincial Championship in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape, as they secured back-to-back victories to book their places in the final on Friday.
The teams also battled it out in the 2013 final in Saldanha, which the Cape side won 28-19.
SWD delivered a strong display all around on Wednesday to thump Border Urban 43-12, while defending champions Western Province, who also won the 2012 tournament, defeated their Cape rivals Boland 30-12 to remain the only unbeaten teams in the competition.
Wednesday’s round also proved to be successful for Eastern Province Urban and Rural following disappointing first-round defeats, with EP Urban edging EP Invitational 26-22 and EP Rural defeating Border Rural 20-8.
EP Urban will meet EP Rural in the Plate Final on Friday, while Boland will go up against Border in the third and fourth place playoff, and EP Invitational and Border Rural will contest the seventh and eighth place playoff.
