It will be an all New Zealand final with the Hurricanes hosting the Highlanders after the Highlanders beaten the Waratahs on Saturday with 35-17.
Waratahs was awful actually not able to get phases together for long periods of time and they were as awful as the Stormers last week in the lineouts and we all know what happens when you cannot win lineouts.
The Aussie commentators made it even worst than the Waratahs with their inability again to know the law and their normal one eye comments to world class referee Joubert.
The biggest controversy came in the second half when Jacques Potgieter went into a tackle to prevent a try with a swinging arm. The try was not awarded because it was sort, but Joubert asked that they look again at the tackle as he felt that Portgieter swinging illegal tackle prevent a possible try.
Replay’s showed that Joubert was spot on as Portgieter’s illegal tackles prevented the try and the yellow card was also spot on for a high swinging arm tackle. Like it or not the laws are the laws and the laws are for all parts of the field.
The Aussie comments afterwards was just embarrassing to say the least but we expect that when there teams get the wrong call. They quickly forget the exact reason the Waratahs made it to the semi’s was through some pretty bad decisions from Aussie TMO’s and referees in the season in games they would have lost.
The two best teams made it to the final with the Hurricanes having been the number one and two on the overall log if one look at the points scored during the season.
The Highlanders today and the Brumbies last week showed how bad a system the current Super Rugby system really are not rewarding wins and the teams who have the most points on the log after the season.
Lucky we have a new system next year but it will have to be tested to see if this will be better than the system we had the last few years.
