The Tafel Lager Griquas was the first team in more than a year that could win against the Cheetahs in the Currie Cup.
They came back after a first half that was dominated by the Cheetahs to win 30-25 in Bloemforntein.
The Cheetahs looked full of running again in the first forty minutes and run at every chance they got and where the first to get over the whitewash.
The Cheetahs led at the break 17-6 which will be something they will be very dissapointed about in losing this game.
Much must be said on the Griquas defensive effort in the 80 minutes and especially in that second half.
They closed down the space of the Cheetahs very quickly everytime they spread the ball wide.
The second half was just Griquas as they fought back and outplayed the Cheetahs at their own game. A yellow card from Cheetahs did not help them and gave the Griquas the opening they wanted.
The Cheetahs did come back first with a penalty to level scores at 20 all and then a try with minutes to go to get to 25-23.
The Griquas never gave up and they scored with a 1 minute left on the board to take the lead to 30-25 and kept the Cheetahs out for that final seconds to take the win.
This is the second win for Griquas this week after they beat Western Province on Wednesday in Kimberley.
