Gloucester saw off London Irish, Newcastle thumped Cardiff Blues while Northampton beat the Dragons in the Anglo-Welsh Cup on Saturday.

Gloucester 47-7 London Irish

The Cherry and Whites ran in seven tries to see off London Irish at Kingsholm, bouncing back from last week’s loss at Leicester Tigers.

First-half scores from Willi Heinz, Val Rapava Ruskin and Tom Hudson gave them a 19-0 lead at the break before they cut loose in the second-half, with Jeremy Thrush, Henry Trinder, Callum Braley and Jake Polledri sealing the victory.

Newcastle Falcons 57-0 Cardiff Blues

Newcastle made it two wins from two in the Anglo-Welsh Cup as they breezed past Cardiff Blues at Kingston Park, running in nine tries.

Falcons were leading 24-0 at the break thanks to scores from Micky Young, Sinoti Sinoti, a penalty try and Mark Wilson in a one-sided half.

Adam Radwan, Sinoti, Alex Tait and Hodgson’s tries then moved Newcastle over the 50-point mark before Gary Graham picked up the final try.

Northampton Saints 41-7 Dragons

Northampton bounced back from last week’s defeat as they overcame the Dragons in a comfortable victory at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.

Juan Pablo Estelles and Reece Marshall’s tries saw them take a 12-0 lead into half-time and Stephen Myler made it 15-0 in the 43rd minute.

Ken Pisi then crossed for the Saints before Joe Thomas hit back for the Dragons, making it 22-7, before Cobus Reinach’s try made it 29-7.

Tom Wood and James Mitchell added tries five and six for Northampton as this victory moves Saints to the top of Pool C, ahead of Saracens.

There were Anglo-Welsh Cup wins for Harlequins and Exeter Chiefs on Sunday as they saw off Worcester and Scarlets respectively.

Harlequins 45-37 Worcester

Harlequins made it two victories out of two in this season’s Anglo-Welsh Cup as they won a thriller 45-37 against Worcester at the Stoop.

They led 26-15 at the break thanks to tries from Tim Visser, Mathew Luamanu, Harry Sloan and James Chisholm before Dino Lamb, James Lang and Alofa Alofa crossed in the second-half for the bonus-point triumph. James Lang kicked 10 points for Quins via five conversions.

In reply Worcester’s tries came from Dean Hammond (3), Max Stelling, Ben Howard and Darren Barry as they suffer a second pool loss.

Scarlets 0-40 Exeter

Exeter Chiefs join Harlequins at the Pool 1 summit as they collected their second victory of the campaign, running riot at Parc y Scarlets.

The 40-0 hiding saw three penalty tries scored in the second-half, with replacement Tom Hendrickson also going over after the interval.

Exeter were equally impressive in the opening stanza as tries from Shaun Malton and James Freeman set them on their way to the win.
