Stonehouse on his way back to SA?

Former Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse is reportedly on his way back to the Mpumalanga union

Reports

According to Netwerk24, Stonehouse will become the Pumas’ director of rugby, a new role created by the union.

The Pumas are expected to make the announcement official in January 2018, the Afrikaans website reported.

The 53-year-old Stonehouse was head coach of the Pumas between 2008 and 2015, before leaving to coach the Toshiba Brave Lupus club in Japan.

Stonehouse will be at the forefront of the Pumas’ strategic plans for the future, while Brent Janse van Rensburg will remain as the team’s head coach.

The Pumas are hoping to acquire franchise status in order to participate in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in Europe.

The Anglo-Welsh Cup is a knock-out competition featuring 12 English Premiership clubs and the four Welsh regions.

English publication, BBC Sport, earlier this year reported that Premiership Rugby was investigating the possibility of introducing South African teams into the competition.

According to the report, changes to rugby’s calendar post-2019 would offer English rugby bosses the chance to invite Currie Cup teams into the developmental tournament.

Griquas are believed to be the other team touted for the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

The prospective competition would run during the international windows in November and February/March.

Bulls, Cheetahs, Stormers have all missed the mark with Stonehouse, should have grab him before he left for Japan.

He is a Ackermann type of coach, don’t take shit but do all for his players and team.

Great if true welcome back then Jimmy

Nah, disagree. He is maybe Ackerman-style in terms of no nonsense, but Ackerman is not a steroids narcissistic monkey – grabbing pussies of other people’s spouses. Maybe some ninja kid crushed his balls – that thin grin looks as if there is some pain down there.

@Bekke: What did you smoke Bekke, you talking about Naka not Rassie….you must stop reading Die Son and maybe get the correct facts rofl

As someone who was coached by Stonehouse I can tel you you are very wrong in your believes. You can also talk to any person that played under him.

Proper coach with real values for the game and no sideshows

But lets see and let him proof you wrong.

As long as he does not start karaoke in front of the grandstand again, with that grin and evil vein in the neck glaring at me…

Will never let BC forget that he had the opportunity to ask Stonehouse if he used steroids recreationally because let’s face it……he looks like something out of a Fantastic Four movie.

Keep in mind this was a REMOTE interview so no worry that Stonehouse would reach across the desk & choke intrepid BC for asking such an obvious question he deemed smart alecky….
    Still BC passed.
    Shame.

Still I miss the BC interview series. Think it’s time BC ditches Griquas to follow his TRUE calling……
    Making Rugby Union Journalism……
    Great Again.

Nee fok the Rassie/Jacques team can do something with Stonehouse.
I would suggest the Bok coaching tinkering at SARU fuck the fuck right off and let the Bok coach chose his own team to work with.
