Racing 92 strengthened their position in the pace-setting pack as they beat Toulouse 23-19 at U Arena in their Top 14 fixture on Friday.
This result sees the Paris side move level on points with second-placed Montpellier while Toulouse missed the chance to break into the group sitting at the top of the standings, but do go above Castres into fifth spot on the table.
Racing 92 enjoyed the best of the first-half action on home soil and went in very much in command at 20-9 in front thanks to two tries.
Toulouse had struck first off the tee through full-back Thomas Ramos, but his three first-half penalties were all they could muster. Meanwhile Racing 92 replacement Teddy Iribaren, who was on for the injured Maxime Machenaud, slotted both conversions and also two penalties.
It was game on shortly after the resumption when Yoann Huget crossed and with Ramos’ extras, Toulouse were just four points behind.
Iribaren’s third penalty nudged Racing into a seven-point cushion on 51 minutes but Ramos hit back on the hour mark to make it 23-19.
And that was how things stayed as Racing held on to claim the victory while Toulouse at least got a losing bonus-point from the game.
