The Lions did it yet again in th frst half giving the Highlanders a lead and had to play catchup rugby again.

With the kick-off the Lions start slipping tackles and put themselves more under pressure than anything else. It has been shocking this season how many times the Lions just gave opposition and early lead.

The Highlanders quickly got into a 7-0 lead and looked like the Lions are in for another hiding in New Zealand.

Jantjies did put them on the board with a penalty but it was all Highlanders in that first quarter of the match.

Groom at 9 for the Lions was poor in that first half taking to long behind the pack and trying to be to fancy with passes that was not on.

The Highlanders scored another two tries to go to a 19-3 lead before some magic from Jantjies got Vorster over for their first try.

There second try came from a good drive from the lineout after the hooter when Coetzee got over.

This ended the half with a good fightback from the Lions to go into the break just four points behind 19-15.

The Highlanders were at the Lions again in the second half and took not long to get their first try in the second half.

They were feeding from the Lions mistakes and took full advantage of it as well.

The Lions got one back with Coetzee that went over for his second try from another drive over the line.

That reduce the score to 26-20 after 50 minutes.

The Lions had plenty of opportunities but were again the masters of their own downfall as the Highlanders scored yet again with some brilliant skills from another turnover.

That have the host a great lead of 33-20 with 15 minutes to go.

The Lions hit back with 6 minutes to go when Marnus Schoeman went over for another try.

The Highlanders got a penalty straight after the try to extend the lead to more than 2 scores for the Lions. More disappointing than the Lions losing again was the standard of refereeing.
