Erasmus reduces squad

Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus has reduced his squad for the last two matches of their three-Test series against England.

It has been confirmed that prop Trevor Nyakane has been withdrawn from the Bok squad because of injury.

Nyakane has trouble with a rib injury and did not play a part in Saturday’s victory over the English at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg after he was initially named in the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Ox Nche, Jason Jenkins, Kwagga Smith, Nizaam Carr, Travis Ismaiel, Curwin Bosch and Cameron Wright have been released from the squad back to their franchises following Saturday’s opening Test against England in Johannesburg.

The Springboks travel to Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon where they will resume their preparations for the second international against England.

The second test is this weekend in Bloefontein

  1. @DavidS:

The jury is still out on the ‘mystery’ injuries Steyn and BDP sustained after Rassie said they were arriving within two days and then all of a sudden they totally made themselves unavailable so it is one of two things and certainly not ‘injury’. Either it is their club mucking around or like Koche (who chose to resign with Sarrries rather his initial decision to return to RSA) they have simply decided against it.

I don’t know what is going on with Bis & Frank BUT were I their agent I’d have told them:
You guys both are Springboks WITH a WC ring. Why you wanna play hero & wear out your welcome?
You did your tour(s) of duty – now BANK IT in eurodollars.
