With the Sharks hoping on results to go their way to make the playoffs we can only put our Super Rugby desire again only on the Lions.
The difference this year is that the Lions have not been as dominate and good as they were in the past two years.
Swys de Bruin troops have not had the same impact as Ackermann sides of the past.
They struggled with injuries and could not find the same impact on attack and defence as in the past.
At times they were as good as the best in the competitions but they could not get that consistency.
It is not that the Lions need some help from other teams, they need the Brumbies to beat the Waratahs to secure the overall second place.
The Waratahs are currently second in the overall standings on 44 points, while the Lions are on 41. A win for the Waratahs would boost them beyond the Lions’ reach, regardless of what transpires between the Lions and Bulls in a later game played on Saturday.
The second placed team will host not just a quarter-final but also a semi-final if they progress.
The Lions can still loose the top spot in the SA Conference if they lose to the Bulls and the Jaguares get a big win against the Sharks.
What ever happen this weekend we only really have the Lions that can give us some hope.
