It is going to be a huge clash this weekend at Loftus when the Blue Bulls host WP in the last round of Currie Cup matches this season and it seems Province have already beat the Blue Bulls with the signature of Schalk Brits.

Brits has been in the plans of Springbok coach Erasmus and has come out of retirement to get a chance to make the World Cup  squad next year.

For that to happen Brits had to sign with a Super Rugby side and it is looking that he will run out in the colours  of the Stormers next year after much attention from the Bulls  .

Netwerk24, has reported that the Stormers won this battle.

Brits returned inside a month to win an 11th cap for the Springboks and acted as a mentor for the team during the Rugby Championship.

Brits was on Tuesday also included in Erasmus’ Barbarians squad for the Killik Cup match against Argentina at Twickenham on December 1.

He will enjoy a third stint at the Stormers, having represented the Cape franchise between 2006-2009 and briefly in 2011.

During his time at Saracens (2009-2018) he also won two European Champions Cup titles.

  1. @Jacques: Where is Scarra going then? Brits was below average in the few minutes he played so far for Rassie – maybe he can be used as flanker, but he will be bullied by current SA hookers (rugby as well as Voortrekker Rd).

  2. @Bekke: I heard rumours that he may be moving up North, but ye forgot about Scarra who si playing some good rugby in the CC this year.

It is also as you say a weird option for Rassie as you have Marx, Bongi and Akkers.

  3. Surely better that Bongi gets game time at stormers with Brits at Bulls.

This could be one moerse Bok side of Rassie brings in a few other players. NZ building 51 player squad.

Where is RjvR ? Good to see he and Serfontein get a run at center – maybe EOY tour. That’s depth. Throw in some game time for Koch at 3, papier at 9, and JLDP at 7 or 8, and some great things starting.

  4. We should get Brits to give lessons on the subtle art of throwing into a lineout to our current crop of “world’s best hookers”.
