Halfpenny out for Boks clash

Wales fullback Leigh Halfpenny will not be available for this weekend test.

The star fullback has suffered a concussion from a late hit by Aussie Samu Kerevi which was again not picked up by the referee nor citing commissioner.

Wales coach Gatland described the late hit as reckless and should have been carded.

For Wales the player’s welfare comes first, said Howley.

With Halfpenny out they have the option of Liam Williams, Anscombe and Amos.

  1. It’s a v good Welsh side. For Boks I’d like to see koch start. I think Yster is a must start partnered with RG at 5 and PSDT at blindsider (mostert not lood off bench). I think those welshes think they can handle Bok physicality – but they ain’t seen a decent Bok team in a long time.

I’d like to see DDA and Etsterhuixen partnered at centre against the Welsh backline – with Kriel off bench.

  2. Still think wilco Louw is strongest TH – if he can up his wirkrate and aggression could be one of the best. This is best set of props SA have had in ages, even du toit has developed nicely. With Beast to return its 6 firstrate props.

The selection of van zyl over schreuder is a complete mystery to me.

I don’t think you realize how important Mostert has become to the Bok set-up. His workrate in securing our ball and disrupting the oppo ball is 2nd to none.
Eben/Lood and RG are like for like and tbh I rate RG highest of the 3. Each have their strengths but all round RG with his skill-set is my fav. Eben gets the nod on experience and line-out stealing/reading ability… Lood a mix of the 2
Mostert and PSdT are IMO like for like but need them both in the team.

  4. Mostert workrate v good, but I think against Welsh we need some heavy-hitters. Yster is a must, and I think RG always make big impact.
