SANZAAR are again re-thinking their format for Super Rugby from 2021 onwards, and it seems the Sunwolves may loose out.
There seemed to be disagreement on the format going forward which now looks like they will revert back to to a Super 14 competition.
South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina are full members of SANZAAR so it just seemed logic that the Sunwolves will face the axe.
With three seasons behind them, the Sunwolves have only registered six wins and finishing bottom of the log.
This may open the door for the Japanese base franchise to join a European league like the Cheetahs and Kings did.
Going back to a 14-team tournament will ensure that one round-robin can be played in the competition.
This will do away from the conference system which never seemed to have worked nor being fare.
