A few weeks ago we reported that Jean-Luc du Preez got injured playing for Sale Sharks while on loan to the club.

The extend of hsi injury was not known but it is reported now that he will not be fit to start the Super Rugby campaign with the Sharks.

Du Preez only came back during the Currie Cup after being injured last year and this is a massive blow for the Sharks before the season even started.

According to SARugbymag, the injury is expected to keep Du Preez sidelined for three months.

It is beyond me why franchises let their players play in the offseason where most of them comes back with some kind of niggle or long term injury.

Du Preez is not just important to Sharks rugby but also for the Springboks in a World Cup year and hopefully this injury will not keep him out of that as well.

The Sharks start their 2019 campaign with a trip to Tokyo to take on the Sunwolves on February 16.

  1. Ja this is just stupidity. Maybe it’s the player who wants to do this – madness.

This guy and Serfontein are worldclass and would’ve given the RWC squad a helluva boost.

  2. My question is do they get medical insurance from club? SARU have to pay medical insurance for overseas Boks.

This is just the stupidest thing on earth for me
