Rassie Erasmus has put the marker down on what he expect players to achieve this year in Super Rugby to make his World Cup squad.

Nothing is set in stone so the door is still wide open for any player to make the final group.

Erasmus has visited the four franchises recently and explained to players and coach what he expect from players.

He explained to Sunday newspaper Rapport what he expect from the players.

  • Play very good rugby for your franchise
  • Be above average in all departments of your game like tackling, scrummage, cleanouts and attack.
  • To be consistent is not good enough show your abilities that seperate you from the rest.

Erasmus also added that if you play the world on fire this year, you will be in his squad.

This is good news for those who were on the fringe last year. With the World Cup this year the Super Rugby will not have a break and the Rugby Championship will be shorter.

The Springboks will play Australia at home, New Zealand in Wellington and Argentina away.

They have an extra test match before the World Cup against Argentina in Pretoria and Japan in Japan before they take on the All Blacks in the opening round at the World Cup on the 21 September.

  1. I’m excited about this World Cup. Bokke would’ve won 2011 (had the Great One selected Bismarck) and 2003 (had mallet selected Honiball).

This 2019 squad is up there – let’s hope Rassie gets it right.

  2. I’m only excited to see whether somebody can challenge the ABs. For SA it could be our worst WC ever. We will probably lose first game (ABs). Then uninteresting games against Namibia, Italy and (probably our B-team) Canada. Then another loss against Ireland and coming home. Of course Rassie will claim 3 wins from 5 games was not bad….
