With Steven Hansen leaving his post as head coach for the All Blacks after the World Cup this year, a lot of speculations are going around on who will take over from him.

Joe Schmidt who also announced he will step down as Ireland coach after the World Cup has been seen as someone that can take over, but he has ruled himself out of contention but did say he may consider the British ) Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 2021.

Schmidt stated that he wants to take a year off to spend time with his family and for that reason he can not be considered to replace Hansen after the 2019 World Cup.

If New Zealand really want him as coach maybe they can convince Hansen to stay on until Schmidt is available but that will most properly not happen.

It will be interesting to see who gets the nod to take over from Hansen
