Stormers start pre-season against combined club side on Saturday

The DHL Stormers will start their preparations for this years Vodacom Super Rugby competition over the weekend with a 27-man squad taking on a Combined Club side at False Bay RFC.

The match will kick-off at 11:30 on Saturday.

The Combined Club side will be made up from non-University club. This will give club players also the chance to push for Western Province SuperSport Challenge team.

Beside the friendly against the Club side, there will also be a 17-man DHL Stormers conditioning group that will train at False Bay RFC from 10:30.

Entrance for both will be free and there will be parking and refreshments available.

The fans can also look forward to meet their hero’s with some interaction also arrange on Saturday.

Stormers coach said that they have done great in preparing and looking forward to face a tough club side.

After a rewarding pre-season, we will be able to gauge where we are in our first warm-up game.

“It is great to involve local club players in our Vodacom Super Rugby preparations; we are lucky to have quality club talent at our disposal like this.

“Our pre-season has been focused on connecting with the community and engaging with our fans by training at different venues around the Western Cape. We want to be a team of the people and so it will be great to spend some more time with our supporters.

“It is important to take this first step and get some gametime under our belts. It should be a valuable learning experience for us and we will also use the opportunity to do some conditioning with the rest of our training squad,” he said.
