Stormers steal win

This was most properly the worst game in years we saw on our TV sets. The Stormers at the end stole the match with a late try to beat the Lions 19-17.

From the players to the officials, this was just not the way the game should be played.

The Lions put the Stormers under pressure from the start and kept them in their own twenty-two.

At first the Stormers defended well against the onslaught from the Lions but the power from Kwagga Smith was to much as the Lions scored the first try.

The Stormers did manage to get some ball in hand and forced a penalty in the Lions twenty-two which Marias slotted over for their first points.

The Stormers general was really bad, they were giving away more penalties than americans on Halloween and just could not put phases together.

The Lions through their captain scored their second try and the lead of 14-3. The Stormers got 3 back with another penalty from Marais.

The Stormers came out with their away strip in the second half but thing did not get any better with their play.

There were just too many mistakes from both sides which made this hard to watch.

The Stormers slotted three penalties over with the Lions with one which took the score to 17-12 after 64 minutes.

The game seemed to go nowhere with the Stormers camping in the Lions twenty two and when the Lions got a yellow card it seems the Stormers may just steal this one.

After many attempts they still could not put phases together and get over the Lions defence but in the 85 minute they had their last penalty and went for a scrum.

Although the yellow card for Lions came back two minutes too early the Stormers got the ball out of the scrum with Jantjies getting over for the winning try.

This secure the win for the Stormers with 19-17.

This must have been the worst game we have seen in years but at the end the Stormers got the win even if it was against the run of play.

The Lions only have themselves to blame keeping the Stormers in the game through giving away silly penalties.

  1. What you mean Bekke – surely Wales were the favourites. Garland done wonders with that team / they wanted to cab him at one stage – fools. Mitchell made a huge difference to England

Dodgy stuff tho. They camped offsides still and I reckon there’s a tactic to tap-spoil the ball. Opensider is good tho.

  2. @cab: Bulls would have been favourites based on Round 1 games – yet easily lost against Jaguares. Lions were favourites against Stormers. Brumbies were not favourites. Scotland were favouorites. And I thought England had enough to easily beat Wales.
Unlike Round 1, Round 2 was all about the home teams (much like 2018, so I think Round 1 was just a glitch).
