Preview – Blues v Sunwolves

The Blues is another team with 3 losses from 3 games and this week after traveling to the South Africa and Argentina, they back ay home against the Sunwolves.

What in the beginning of the year would have sounded like an easy game to return home to, has become a bit tricky for the Blues.

On the one hand there will be some that say the Sunwolves win over the Chiefs last week just show in how much trouble the Chiefs are but the fact remains that the Sunwolves got their first away win in Super Rugby.

With Patrick Tuipulotu being rested, the captaincy was given this week to Sonny Bill Williams.

The Blues will play at the home ground of Mike Tamoaieta, the popular prop who died suddenly last Friday, two days before the Blues played the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.

A tribute at the stadium is planned for Tamoaieta and players will remember him with a special jersey

“It’s been a tough week given everything that’s happened, and the travel and external things going on,” MacDonald said. “There has been a bit of balancing between rugby and life and at times we had to re-set on what’s important – we had to do the right thing there and get through that as best we could.

“Obviously with three losses we’re not stoked with where we are but contextually we’re really proud of the way they played in Argentina all things considered – 24 hours before that there was a lot of upheaval.

“It’s nice to be home with familiar people. It’s another big week for us.In other changes to the side Gibson replace Dalton Papalii with Scott Scrafton on the bench. Tuungafasi is rested with Karl Tu’inukuafe retaining his position.

The Sunwolves will be gunning for a second win on tour against the Blues who are a team struggling as well. The problem for the Sunwolves will be that the Blues is a much better team than what the log are saying at the moment and at home they will be very difficult.

There will be a lot of passion in this game specially with what happened off the field last week.
