Brilliant Blitzboks take Vancouver Sevens Title


The Blitzboks continued their good form from day one and won the Canadian Sevens in the early hours of Monday morning.

They had the perfect start to the tournament when they got 3 from 3 on day one, beating Spain, Wales and the USA in the pool stages.

This setup a quarter final against Argentina on Sunday. They had an early scare but at the end beat them comfortably 33-12 to advance to the semi finals against Fiji.

The Blitzboks defence was again superb as they can hard at the Fijians like this tackle by Selyvn Davids

They got past Fiji with another great win of 31-12 which setup a place in the final against France who beat the USA in their semi final.

In the final, France was quick out of the blocks and scored first but the blitzboks hit back immediately and never gave up the lead again.

At the end they beat France 21-12 to lift their first title of the year.

Selvyn Davids had one of his best tournaments so far this year and was named the player of the final

It was an impressive weekend from the Blitzboks and it looks like their young players are finding there strides now. Off-course captain Phillip Snyman was happy after the win
