Match Report – Rebels back to winning ways against Reds


The Rebels got back to winning ways after two losses in South Africa when they beat the Reds 32-13.

The Rebels was quick to get on the scoreboard with an early penalty from Cooper to put them in the lead 3-0.

That was quickly counter by Hegarty when he levels things moments later with a penalty of his own.

The game struggled to get going throughout the first half. The Rebels went ahead with a penalty but yet again that was counter by Bryce Hegarty that made the score 6-all.

We finally saw a try when Rebels set up camp meters out. Cooper got the ball and he kicked to the corner for Maddocks who got over.

That gave the Rebels a 11-6 lead and the score the teams went into the break.

A slick start to the second half got us the second try of the match. They set up a rolling maul for Rangi charging at full tilt over the line.

That gave the Rebels a 16-6 lead early on and they were on the board again with Maddocks getting his second try of the match getting over from a kick down field.

The Reds got over the line with Taniela Tupou getting over the whitewash. 

After a string of penalties the Rebels pinged on their tryline the Reds pick-and-go till they got over the line.

The Rebels was not finished with Leota that got over in the final minutes of the game.

Cooper had the last say in the match when he kicked the conversion to give his time a 32-13.
