The Sharks outplayed, outclass and outsmart the Lions on Friday when they beat them 42-5.

It was all Sharks at the start of the game putting huge pressure on the Lions and keep them pinned down in their own twenty two.

The Lions conceded penalty and penalty and the referee had no choice to send Rhyno Herbst off with a yellow card.

Although the Sharks had the extra man they just could not get through the Lions defence but kept playing in their half.

Nothing seems to have gone for the Lions as the Sharks made all the play.

The first try came from Bosch running from the back with some interplay to send Jacques Vermeulen over in the corner, a real team try.

With a lead of 5-0 the Sharks were still the only team on the park and even when the Lions looked to do something on attack the ball was turned over which gave Bosch a great break through the Lions defence and he send Makazole Mapimpi over for their second try.

Du Preez missed the conversion again and with the lead of 10-0 the Shark were in the Lions half yet again. Am got the ball on the inside and went straight through for their third try.

Du Preez extended the lead with a penalty in the 31 minute of the match to 20-0.

The Sharks ended the half off with another try from Mapimpi which gave them a 25-0 lead at the break.

The second half started with the rain coming down and it was again the Sharks to put points on the board through a long penalty kick form Bosch.

The Lions just could not get out of their own half as the Sharks kept the pressure on. With that the when the Lions got the ball they could not keep it in hand with silly handling errors.

It was Thomas Du Toit that got over for the Sharks next try and Bosch kicked the conversion over to extend their lead to 35-0 with 9 min to go.

The Lions did manage to get a breakout try when Mahuza went over for their first and only try of the match but it was the Sharks that had the final say with a try from Fassi.

This gave the Sharks a 42-5 bonus point win over the Lions.

  1. Lions are world apart form the team they were last year…

Without Kriel, Mostert, Kwagga, Whiteley and Ruan Dreyer are just not good enough. Add the names off Ackermann who left with his dad and Rohan you see how much they lost over the last two years.

They are building a new team with exciting youngsters but do not see them achieving anything this year.

Are hopes are only on Sharks at best, and they are so inconsistent so no joy for us this year me thinks
