Typical Aussie derby as both teams trying too much and failing to do the basics right but it was the Reds that open the scoring with a penalty.

The Rebels were camping in the Reds twenty two and did claim a try but TMO decided there was a knock in the lead up to all of that.

With a yellow card to Reds Samu Kerevi the Rebels had the extra man and were quick to get over the line when Marika Koroibete got over.

Cooper knocked over the conversion and they took the lead 7-3.

The Reds got back into the Rebels half and from another penalty they reduced the lead to only 7-6.

It was again the Rebels with all the pressure and from a lineout Rangi was at the end of a perfect drive to extend the Rebels lead to 14-6

The Red got over after some great work from Lucas which took the score to only 14-11 with minutes to go in the first half.

The Rebels was again back on the Reds line and referee lost his patience with the Reds giving away so many penalties in the twenty and send Scott Higginbotham off with a yellow card on the stroke of halftime.

It was Cooper and Hodge that broke the Reds defence inside their own half for Faulkner to go over for their third try of the match.

This extend the home side lead to 19-11 after 45 minutes.

The Rebels started to get better on attack creating more space and this this time it was Dane Haylett-Petty who got over for a 24-11 lead.

Hoopert then got the Reds second try closing the bag to 24-18 with 20 minutes to go.

The Reds started to turn the game around with all the play in the Rebels half. They did got over the line but TMO could not see any evidence that the try was scored.
