The Sharks got a important win over the Lions on Saturday with 27-17.

The Lions are still without a win over a SA side this year in the competition and they will be very disappointed with the two intercept tries they gave away.

The Lions had a good start with ball in hand forcing the Sharks to kick most of the ball they had back to them.

When the Sharks got hold of the ball they also got the ball through the hands but more with their big men working their way into the Lions twenty but handling mistakes stop the progress.

The Sharks pinned the Lions in their own half and got a penalty which Bosch missed just after 12 minutes in the game.

It was Curwin Bosch with an intercept that broke the deadlock and a lead for the Sharks.

The Lions were struggling big time in the scrums with the Sharks starting to get penalties from the set pieces.

From a attacking lineout Dan Du Preez was at the end of a perfect maul to give the Sharks their second try and 14-0 lead.

The Lions found them in the Sharks twenty two and with some great play from Jantjies to send Mapoe over for the Lions first try.

The Lions came back nicely after the dominance the Sharks showed in the first part of the half but went into the break 14-7 behind.

The Sharks almost had the best start possible when Nkosi dived over but he was in touch first as the TMO came into play.

The Lions who has been playing most of the second half in their own twenty two started a run from their and went through the hands to send Brink over for their second try.

The Sharks got a penalty over from Bosch before they had defend for all their worth on their own line. With the Lions meters from the line, Mapimpi intercept to run the full length of the field to get another try for the Sharks.

The Lions started to dominated play and almost got over the line but got a penalty to make it a seven point game.

That was counter with a penalty from Bosch just before the end of the game which give the Sharks a 27-17 win.

  1. It was an exiting game. Good to see both teams showing some intend and a lot of skills. Mapimpi was good, as was Bosch – I would not complain with either in Bok team, with Pollard at inside centre. Jantjies (Stormers) is by miles the best scrumhalve currently, and I will also not throw away Elton Jantjes for flyhalve – he just have to trust his pace a bit. Dyanti has a poor run of form; similar for Kitschoff, Malherbe, Pieter Steph. Great to see Kolisi playing second decent game in a row.
