O’Brien will miss Ireland World Cup

Ireland have received their first setback with the news that Sean O’Brien will not take part in their world cup campaign.

He will undergo surgery on his hip which will rule him out for six months.

O’Brien international career seems to be over after he is transferring to London Irish next season which makes him no longer eligible for Ireland.

O’Brien has been a key player for Ireland over a number of years and his absence in the World Cup will be felt.
He has won 56 caps for his country in a career that started in 2009.

Johnny Sexton said O’Brien was the best forward he ever played with.
